Bondit Peak rises to 5,980 meters in the remote Kanday Valley of the Hushe region in Pakistan's Karakoram Range. Formerly known as Muntin Peak, this formidable mountain resisted international attempts for decades until the Hungarian National Alpine Team achieved the first ascent in July 2022. The northeast ridge route offers 1,500 meters of sustained climbing with sections reaching 80 degrees and WI 4 ice difficulty, graded TD (Très Difficile). Despite its technical challenges and objective hazards like hanging glaciers, Bondit Peak is accessible via a relatively short two-day approach from Kanday village. Climbers are rewarded with spectacular summit views of K2, Broad Peak, and the Gasherbrums, making it a premier objective for those seeking an uncommercial alpine experience.
